The Brooklyn-based \u003cstrong\u003eDaptone Records\u003c\/strong\u003e channels the spirits of Stax and Motown into its own modern brand of soul. The label has brought a decidedly retro sound back to the mainstream. When \u003cstrong\u003eArts \u0026amp; Crafts Productions\u003c\/strong\u003e was launched in 2002, it was originally envisioned as the management wing and label for \u003cstrong\u003eBroken Social Scene\u003c\/strong\u003e. It quickly became the go-to platform for some of indie music's best players. Launched in 2009, \u003cstrong\u003eThe Royal Potato Family\u003c\/strong\u003e is a Brooklyn-based record label that began with experimental jazz pianist \u003cstrong\u003eMarco Benevento\u003c\/strong\u003e.
