Experience one of the most powerful and unforgettable acoustic performances in rock history with Alice in Chains – Unplugged, the legendary 1996 live album that captures the haunting beauty, emotional intensity, and extraordinary musicianship of one of grunge music's most influential bands! Featuring stripped-down acoustic arrangements, unforgettable vocal harmonies, and deeply moving performances, this essential music CD delivers an intimate listening experience that continues to resonate with rock fans worldwide.

Originally released in July 1996 through Columbia Records, Unplugged documents Alice in Chains' remarkable appearance on MTV's celebrated acoustic concert series. Recorded on April 10, 1996, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, this historic performance became one of the most memorable moments in the band's extraordinary career.

Featuring unforgettable acoustic performances of legendary songs like "Nutshell," "Brother," "No Excuses," "Down in a Hole," "Rooster," "Would?," "Heaven Beside You," "Got Me Wrong," and "Over Now," the album reveals an emotional depth and musical vulnerability that gives these classic recordings an entirely new dimension.

Led by the haunting vocals of Layne Staley and the extraordinary guitar work and harmonies of Jerry Cantrell, Alice in Chains transforms their signature dark, heavy sound into an intimate collection of acoustic masterpieces.

Backed by bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney, the band delivers powerful performances that showcase their remarkable chemistry, unforgettable songwriting, and ability to create an extraordinary atmosphere without relying on crushing electric guitars.

From the heartbreaking beauty of "Nutshell" to the mesmerizing vocal harmonies of "Down in a Hole" and the unforgettable energy of "Rooster," every performance captures the distinctive combination of darkness, melody, and emotion that made Alice in Chains legendary.

Drawing from celebrated albums like Dirt, Jar of Flies, Sap, and their self-titled release, Unplugged offers a remarkable journey through some of the band's most beloved recordings.

Perfect for longtime Alice in Chains fans, grunge enthusiasts, 1990s alternative rock collectors, and anyone who appreciates extraordinary live music, this album deserves a place in every serious CD collection.

UNPLUGGED isn't Alice In Chains' first unplugged record; it's just the first official, MTV-sanctioned one. The EPs JAR OF FLIES and SAP are both low-key, mostly-acoustic outings that achieved a similar vibe without the benefit of an MTV appearance. Which is to say Alice In Chains isn't jumping on a bandwagon here; they're doing more of something they do very well.

UNPLUGGED features acoustic versions of songs from every record in the Seattle band's catalog except its debut, FACELIFT. And it heavily features guitarist Jerry Cantrell, who wrote or co-wrote 12 of these 13 songs, including the previously-unrecorded "Killer Is Me." Cantrell's vocals pace that one along with "Heaven Beside You" and "Over Now." Lead singer Layne Staley, meanwhile, finds a fitting outlet here for his creaky voice, particularly as he tackles harrowing images of drug addiction in "Sludge Factory" and "Down In A Hole."
