Animal Collective - March 2016 Relix Issue Magazine

The March 2016 Relix issue features our Animal Collective cover story and much more! If there is one constant in Animal Collective’s evolution from Baltimore Deadheads to museum-curating art-rockers, then it’s that they’ve stayed true to their weird. As Associate Editor Jesse Jarnow observes, they have nurtured “one of those fanbases that dresses up for shows and smokes a lot of pot and trades live recordings and requires record company publicity departments to send out strictly watermarked file streams.” Yet at their core these three—or sometimes four—friends have stuck together throughout their decade-and-a-half rise from the turn of the century psychedelic experimental corner of New York’s music grotto on the global stage.

This issue also contains additional articles and interviews with Phish, Bonnie Raitt, Cage The Elephant, Elliot Landy’s The Band Photographs: 1968-1969, Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane, Vulfpeck, Perpetual Groove, Brock Butler, JR JR, M. Ward, Bob Mould, Allen Stone, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, GIVERS, Scott Murawski, Wild Nothing, American Babies, an excerpt from Might as Well, a novel set at a Grateful Dead Concert by Relix Editor-In-Chief Dean Budnick and more!
