Recorded in the summer of 1967 in the basement of a house in West Saugerties, New York, these sessions with The Band captured Dylan in a remarkably loose and exploratory mode following his motorcycle accident. The songs circulated as bootlegs for years before official release, shaping how musicians understood the creative possibilities of informal, collaborative recording.
