Original melodies by pianist-composer Louis Dominique Roy get their first airing on "Rves enclos", a new recording with baritone Olivier Laquerre. Roy's songs are set to poems by some of Qubec's greatest poets, including mile Nelligan, Alfred Desrochers, Arthur de Bussires, Hector de Saint-Denys-Garneau, and Gilles Vigneault. Roy accompanies Laquerre on these Qubcois melodies, some of which also feature cellist Sbastien Lpine or horn-player Louis-Philippe Marsolais. The Canadian bass-baritone, Olivier Laquerre, studied with the well-known teachers Jan Simons in Montreal, as well as Patricia Kerne in Toronto and Marlena Malas in the USA. Award-winner at the Paris and Verviers international voice competitions, Olivier Laquerre has been in great demand as a soloist since winning the prestigious Joseph-Rouleau Prize (1st Prize) at the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada Voice Competition in 1999.
