Will Toledo spent years quietly building one of indie rock's most devoted followings through a prolific run of self-released Bandcamp albums before Matador came calling. Teens Of Style served as his proper label debut, compiling and reworking selections from that vast homegrown catalog, giving a wider audience its first real entry point into his world of densely layered guitars, literary lyricism, and nervy introspection.
Car Seat Headrest is the project of Seattle singersongwriter Will Toledo. With a vision that is both sweeping in scope and intimately personal, Car Seat Headrest embodies the DIY ethos at its best. Car Seat Headrest began in 2010 in Will’s hometown of Leesburg, Virginia. Needing a place of solitude (and soundproofing) where he could record his often frantic vocals undisturbed, a 17-year old Will set up shop in the family car (hence the name).
