Australian slide guitarist Dave Hole developed his distinctive overhead bottleneck technique in near-isolation from the Perth music scene, with little access to American blues records until well into adulthood. When Alligator Records founder Bruce Iglauer caught Hole's demo, he signed him on the spot, and *Short Fuse Blues* became the debut that introduced this raw, self-invented voice to the wider blues world.
