Foreigner occupied a particular sweet spot in late-'70s and '80s rock, pairing Mick Jones's melodic instincts with Lou Gramm's powerhouse voice to produce arena anthems that held up across decades of radio rotation. "Records" compiled the peaks of that run when it dropped in 1982, going platinum many times over and cementing the band's place alongside the era's heaviest commercial hitters. For fans who grew up with these songs blasting from car speakers, the vinyl format restores a warmth the cassette generation never quite got.
