New Jack Swing was built on tension between the sacred and the secular, and Jodeci leaned harder into that friction than almost anyone. Forever My Lady arrived in 1991 and immediately reset expectations for R&B vocal groups, with K-Ci, JoJo, DeVante Swing, and Dalvin DeGrate bringing a raw, church-bred intensity to bedroom soul that their peers simply couldn't match.
