Released just a year before his passing, Cash's fourth collaboration with Rubin found him at his most unflinching, turning songs by Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and the Beatles into meditations on mortality that felt entirely his own. The title track, one of his final originals, remains a stunning piece of American songwriting, a preacher's cadence wrapped around the Book of Revelation.
Limited vinyl LP pressing of this 2002 album from the Country legend. This is the last album released before his death in 2003. The majority of songs are covers which Cash performs in his own spare style, with help from producer Rick Rubin. To the present day, Cash's studio albums for the American series have continued to sell extremely well.
