A child prodigy who appeared in the Grammy-winning documentary *Through a Glass Darkly* at age eight, Lage spent years as a sideman and collaborator before *Arclight* announced him as a fully formed leader with his own unmistakable voice. The trio setting strips everything down to the essentials, drawing on country, folk, and straight-ahead jazz without leaning hard on any one of them.
Arclight, Julian Lage's Mack Avenue debut, marks his first recorded outing on electric guitar and in a trio format, backed by double bassist Scott Colley and drummer Kenny Wollesen. Like that titular intense white light, Lage is a performer who burns brightly.
