Marshall Crenshaw arrived in 1982 with a sound that felt simultaneously fresh and timeless, rooted in Buddy Holly's melodic economy and the Everly Brothers' close harmonies but wired with a post-punk precision all his own. Crenshaw had famously played John Lennon in "Beatlemania" before stepping into his own spotlight, and that Lennon-esque gift for an irresistible hook runs through every track here.
Marshall Crenshaw's self-titled album has been called one of the greatest albums of the 1980s by Rolling Stone, Spin, MOJO, Paste and others. It includes his breakthrough hit, "Someday, Someway" and mony other classic pop rock songs. Remastered by Greg Calibi, this 40th anniversary reissue includes the original album + 7 bonus tracks, 5 previously unreleased.
