The years Coltrane spent in Miles Davis's band remain one of the most documented and debated chapters in jazz history, a period that produced recordings still used to define what the music could be. This six-disc set captures their full Columbia arc together, from the first great quintet through the modal breakthroughs of "Kind of Blue," documenting two of the twentieth century's most consequential improvisers at the precise moment each was becoming himself.
