Mulgrew Miller spent decades as a first-call sideman, contributing to landmark sessions with Woody Shaw, Tony Williams, and Art Blaeker's Jazz Messengers before stepping fully into his own voice as a bandleader. Wingspan gave him the canvas to do exactly that, and this follow-up to the group's debut finds Miller's compositional confidence fully realized, balancing the harmonic sophistication of the post-bop tradition with an ensemble warmth that reflects years of deep musical conversation.
Having played with some of the greatest names in jazz including, the Ellinton Orchestra, David Sanborn, Freddie Hubbard, Cassandra Wilson and others, Mulgrew Miller has made a name for himself. His greatest accomplishment though was forming Wingspan 15 years, a collective group of stunning musicians!! the Sequel is comprised primarily of original Melgrew Miller compositions and is a must for fans of piano jazz!
