Recorded at The Village Studios in Los Angeles with producer Rob Cavallo, The Black Parade arrived as a deliberate, sprawling statement at a moment when rock music's commercial viability was being openly questioned. Gerard Way drew on classic rock theater, Queen and Pink Floyd among the obvious touchstones, to build something that resonated far beyond the band's existing fanbase and turned a generation of teenagers into lifelong devotees of ambitious, narrative-driven rock.
My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade (20th Anniversary Edition)" includes the original fourteen-track album. Released in October 2006, The Black Parade follows The Patient through his reflections on life and his passage into the afterlife, built on the concept that death visits people in the form of their earliest cherished memory. Pressed as a single LP on Concrete Grey vinyl in a gatefold jacket with a removable O-card, new art insert and printed inner sleeve.
