Xavier Daz-Latorre here presents a splendid version of the complete works for vihuela solo by de Narvez; the beauty of the composer's counterpoint, the clarity of his part-writing and the sensivity of the performer cannot leave the listener unmoved. For this recording, Xavier Daz-Latorre has used the vihuela La Aldonza by the luthier Carlos Gonzlez (Aguadulce, 2017) and the vihuela L'hollandaise by the luthier Patrick Hopmans (Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues, 1997), both strung entirely with gut strings.
