Recorded in Lagos, Nigeria under genuinely difficult circumstances, including the abrupt departure of half the band before sessions began, McCartney essentially rebuilt Wings from the ground up in an unfamiliar studio with Linda and Denny Laine. What emerged was a remarkable creative rebound, silencing critics who had written him off in the post-Beatles years and proving he still had something urgent to say.
Band on the Run is the third studio album by Paul McCartney and Wings, released in December 1973. Its commercial performance was aided by two hit singles 'Jet' and 'Band On The Run' such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the United Kingdom and Australia.
