The seed that eventually led to the release of GET HAPPY, Pink Martini's seventh studio album, was planted in January 2012 when founder Thomas Lauderdale visited Phyllis Diller and recorded the song "Smile" with her. This would end up being the final song recorded by Diller prior to her passing, making the moment especially timeless and bittersweet. Beyond that moment of beautiful nostalgia, GET HAPPY offers fifteen morsels of classic Pink Martini magic, displaying the band's familiar formula of pairing up classic Pop songs with vintage lounge flavors, a tinge of Jazz and a modern flair. Singer China Forbes takes the lead on spicy renditions of "Quizas Quizas Quizas," "Sway," and "Get Happy" that capture the Pink Martini mystique perfectly. The band also delves into multicultural favorites from Japan, Germany, France and beyond, and is joined by guests Rufus Wainwright, Ari Shapiro, Meow Meow and Phillipe Katerine.
