Best known for his operas and vocal music, Gounod's quartets are rooted in the traditions of Viennese classicism. The musicians of the Quatuor Cambini-Paris (Julien Chauvin, Karine Crocquenoy, Pierre-ric Nimylowycz and Atsushi Saka) bring out all the gravity and sweetness contained in these rarely performed works.
