Released in 1974, Good Old Boys marked Newman's full commitment to the American South as subject matter, a concept album rooted in the contradictions of Southern identity, race, and nostalgia that drew from his New Orleans family roots. Songs like "Rednecks" and "Louisiana 1927" cemented his reputation as one of American music's sharpest, most uncomfortable satirists, a songwriter who could make you laugh and wince in the same breath.
Randy Newman's fourth studio album for Reprise was his first real commercial breakthrough and features stellar guest artists Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Bernie Leadon of Eagles, and Ry Cooder. Cut from original flat analog masters by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. 1-LP pressed on 180g vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing.
