Rayland Baxter has always written from the fault lines, and his pedigree runs deep: son of folk legend Bucky Baxter, who played pedal steel alongside Bob Dylan and Steve Earle. True Violet finds him channeling that inherited understanding of American song into something entirely his own, raw and unguarded in a way his earlier records only hinted at.
For half a year, Rayland Baxter wrote every night about everything and nothing at all, sat in a chair next to his bed at his home outside of Nashville. From that trove of material came his 5th studio album True Violet, a sweeping, tender, sometimes raucous ode to the processes of undoing, reckoning and reconciliation.
