Roberta Flack came up through the Washington, D.C. club circuit before her 1969 Atlantic Records debut, and her connection to the Montreux Jazz Festival became one of the defining live relationships of her career. A classically trained pianist who brought that discipline to soul, folk, and gospel without ever losing the intimacy that made songs like "Killing Me Softly" feel confessional rather than performed, she was always best heard live. Nearly four decades of festival footage, finally seeing the light of day on wax, is the document her catalog has been missing.

This new collection showcases her quiet intensity as a live performer, pairing her masterful piano work with her unmistakable vocal presence. It features standout versions of her best loved classics, alongside powerful interpretations of songs by other notable songwriters. All recordings in this collection are previously unreleased and mastered for superior sound quality. CD Digisleeve includes stunning new artwork, rare and unseen photography and special liner notes by her longtime manager and friend, Suzanne Koga.
