Punk rock's greatest cover band institution has been shredding beloved songs from country, show tunes, soft rock, and beyond since 1996, turning sentimentality into a mosh pit with zero apology. The name change is new; the formula is gloriously unchanged: pick a song everyone knows, play it twice as fast, and make it somehow better.
Spike & the Gimme Gimmes are undoubtably the most fun cover bandof all time. The band, previously known as ""ME FIRST AND THE GIMMEGIMMES"" until last year, has truly earned the title of supergroup: eachof the five founding members had already had a serious music career.Originally, Spike Slawson (Swingin' Utters), Fat Mike (NOFX), ChrisShiflett (Foo Fighters), Joey Cape (Lagwagon) and Dave Raun (Lagwagon)came together through their shared love of punk. The band now plays inchanging lineup centered around singer Spike Slawson. Shit the Bed, thedebut of Spike and the Gimme Gimmes is everything you want in aGimmes' release. Instantly catchy and amazing musicianship; you'll lovetheir takes on your favorite songs.
