Heath Fogg spent years as the quiet architectural force behind Alabama Shakes, the band whose raw, Southern-soaked sound made "Boys & Girls" one of the more electrifying debut statements of the 2010s. Stepping out front on his own, he draws on that same Muscle Shoals-adjacent emotional vocabulary while finding a more personal, unhurried register. The guests he chose are no accident; Tucker and Doores both carry deep roots music credibility that keeps this grounded in something real.

The Alabama Shakes guitarist is busy balancing sadness, sunshine and hard-won wisdom on his first project since the rock 'n' soul group hung it up. The roster of enlisted guests includes Sam Doores (Deslondes), Shonna Tucker (Drive-By Truckers), and former Shakes cohort Lloyd Buchanan.
