Heath Fogg spent years as the quiet architect of Alabama Shakes' sound, his guitar work threading through some of the most viscerally alive rock records of the last decade. Stepping out front here, he draws on the same Gulf South musical geography that shaped the Shakes, but lets the tempo breathe and the melancholy linger a little longer.

The Alabama Shakes guitarist is busy balancing sadness, sunshine and hard-won wisdom on his first project since the rock 'n' soul group hung it up. The roster of enlisted guests includes Sam Doores (Deslondes), Shonna Tucker (Drive-By Truckers), and former Shakes cohort Lloyd Buchanan.
