Released in 1986, *The Colour of Spring* is where Talk Talk stopped being a pop band and started becoming something harder to categorize, with Mark Hollis pulling the songwriting inward toward texture, space, and emotional restraint. The title track and "Life's What You Make It" became their biggest commercial moments, even as the band was quietly moving away from commercial concerns altogether, a tension that makes this record genuinely fascinating to revisit.
10th anniversary vinyl release in the Talk Talk half-speed mastering series, celebrating the band's third studio album, The Colour of Spring. Half-speed mastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios, under the supervision of drummer Lee Harris and Charlie Hollis, son of vocalist Mark Hollis. The album marks the band's transition from the synth-pop sound of The Party's Over and It's My Life toward a more improvisational approach, laying the groundwork for the innovative style of their next album, Spirit of Eden.
