Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd built one of rock's most singular guitar dialects on *Marquee Moon*, and *Adventure* showed they weren't done pushing it. Released in 1978, the album traded some of its predecessor's coiled tension for a more spacious, melodic feel, revealing a band with more range than the CBGB scene ever fully got credit for.
