Recorded in the aftermath of guitarist Ricky Wilson's death in 1985, *Cosmic Thing* marked the band's return after a period of grief and uncertainty, and the joy embedded in every track reflects something hard-won. The Athens, Georgia roots that always underpinned the B-52's strange, beloved universe feel especially present here, grounding even the danciest moments in a sense of place and community.
The 1989 multi-platinum eelease from The B-52's. Cosmic Thing was a full-blown reinvention, delivering some of the group’s biggest hits yet, including “Love Shack,” “Roam,” and “Deadbeat Club”, with a sound that fused pop rock, new wave, funk, and Southern nostalgia. Lacquers cut from the original analog master by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab.
