James Box, principal trombone of the Orchestre symphonique de Montral, presents his first solo album, which includes music that ranges over a 300-year span. He is joined by Jean-Willy Kunz on the Pierre-Bique organ of the Maison symphonique de Montral. The son of two musicians, James Box says: "The time I spent with my family in church is when I discovered both music itself, and my vocation as a musician." Most of the pieces on this album are from the repertoire he played as a youth, and constitute a kind of intimate diary. Box also points out that all the pieces on the program, from the most serious to the most playful, have left their mark on him in one way or another.
