After the celebrated release of her orchestral recording Songs from the Movie in early 2014, Mary Chapin Carpenter went back to writing immediately. With producer Dave Cobb and a small group of musicians, she worked at Nashville's Sound Emporium and Low Country Sound throughout the spring and summer. As evidenced by its pre-release tracks "Something Tamed Something Wild" and "What Does It Mean to Travel" in December, and "Map of My Heart," these 11 originals showcase Carpenter at her most intimate and poetic, returning to the root of her singer/songwriter vocation. ~ Thom Jurek
