Walter Hyatt, Champ Hood, and David Ball brought a sound to Austin in the late 1970s that defied easy categorization, weaving acoustic pop, swing, and country together with three-part harmonies so precise they seemed almost impossible for a working bar band. Their influence spread quietly through the Texas singer-songwriter community long after they stopped performing together, felt in the work of artists who caught those Waterloo Ice House sets and carried something away. This anthology is a chance to finally hear what those people were hearing.

Originally released on CD, Anthology: Those Boys From Carolina, They Sure Enough Could Sing... is now reimagined on LP, containing two songs making their vinyl debut - Anthology's "Seat Of Logic" and a previously unissued fiddle demo of "I'll Come Knockin'" (different than the Anthology version and exclusive to the vinyl release). Back in the late '70s at Austin's famed Waterloo Ice House you could find Uncle Walt's Band fans listening raptly in the packed venue sitting beside the likes of Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Nanci Griffith, Jerry Jeff Walker, or Marcia Ball. Now, you can experience why everyone was there. This long overdue collection attempts to right missed opportunities of the past and finally gain Uncle Walt's Band the recognition they deserve.
