Vampire Weekend arrived in 2008 fully formed, a Columbia University quartet whose debut felt like nothing else in indie rock at the time. Their borrowings from Paul Simon's Graceland-era South African influences were worn openly and with genuine scholarship, filtered through an East Coast prep-school lens that somehow made songs about grammar and etiquette feel urgent and alive.
This NY four-piece draw on their diverse backgrounds and interests, experimenting with African guitar music, the Western classical canon, hazy memories of Cape Cod summers, winters in upper Manhattan and reggaeton.
