David Lee Roth's return to Van Halen after more than two decades apart produced something nobody expected: a record that actually sounded hungry. Released in 2012, *A Different Kind of Truth* drew on riff ideas the band had been sitting on since the late '70s, giving it a rawness that most reunion albums never manage to find.
