David Lee Roth's return to Van Halen after a 28-year absence made *A Different Kind of Truth* one of the most anticipated reunion albums in rock history. Released in 2012, it marked the first studio record with Roth since 1984, with Wolfgang Van Halen stepping in on bass. The band drew on riff ideas that dated back to their earliest Pasadena club days, giving the record a raw, hungry energy that caught even skeptics off guard.
