Recorded in 1970 and featuring the loose, gospel-drenched warmth that defined Morrison's early-decade run, this record arrived between the cosmic ambition of "Astral Weeks" and the pastoral soul of "Tupelo Honey," catching him in a moment of joyful communal energy. The title itself tells you something: Van wanted a band, a choir, a congregation. Tracks like "Domino" and "Blue Money" became FM radio staples, but the album rewards deeper listening as a document of Morrison finding his people.
