Loaded arrived in 1970 as the Velvet Underground's most accessible record, the one Atlantic Records wanted them to make, full of radio-ready hooks that Lou Reed reportedly resented even as he wrote some of the best songs of his life. "Sweet Jane" and "Rock and Roll" alone would have cemented any band's legacy, but the full album rewards repeated listening in ways that go well beyond those twin anchors.
