Recorded at the Half Note Cafe in New York in 1965, this date captured Montgomery and Kelly's working band at a moment when their chemistry had been road-tested into something almost telepathic. Kelly, a veteran of Miles Davis's classic rhythm section, was the rare pianist who could swing hard and stay out of the way simultaneously, giving Montgomery room to build those signature octave lines into something that felt inevitable.
Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing housed in gatefold jacket. To celebrate Wes Montgomery's centennial on March 6, essential listening for anyone who wants to hear why Wes' live shows were considered the pinnacle of his brilliant and incredibly influential guitar playing. He never played with more drive and confidence than he does here, supported every step of the way by a genuinely smokin' Wynton Kelly.
