Baraka's lineage runs straight through the Black Arts Movement he helped found in Harlem in 1965, and that political and aesthetic fire burns through every word here. Recorded live, this session captures the rare alchemy of two art forms pushing each other to the edge, with Murray's tenor saxophone not accompanying the poetry so much as arguing with it, mourning with it, celebrating alongside it.
