Released on September 4, 2026, through Varèse Sarabande, this special 40th Anniversary Edition celebrates the remarkable musical legacy of acclaimed composer Angelo Badalamenti and his legendary creative partnership with filmmaker David Lynch.

Originally released in 1986, Blue Velvet starred Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper, and Laura Dern, becoming a defining achievement in surrealist filmmaking. Badalamenti's unforgettable score played an essential role in creating the film's dreamlike atmosphere, blending romantic orchestral arrangements with unsettling musical textures and dark emotional intensity.

Featuring 14 captivating tracks, this anniversary soundtrack includes memorable instrumental compositions like "Main Title," "Night Streets / Sandy and Jeffrey," "Frank," "Jeffrey's Dark Side," "Frank Returns," and "Mysteries of Love."

The collection also features unforgettable recordings including Roy Orbison's haunting "In Dreams," Ketty Lester's beautiful "Love Letters," Bill Doggett's "Honky Tonk Part I," and Julee Cruise's ethereal performance of "Mysteries of Love."

These extraordinary musical selections perfectly capture the contrast between innocent small-town Americana and the mysterious darkness lurking beneath the surface of Lynch's cinematic masterpiece.

Badalamenti's work on Blue Velvet marked the beginning of one of cinema's most celebrated composer-director collaborations, eventually producing the unforgettable musical worlds of Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, and Mulholland Drive.

This special anniversary release offers a wonderful opportunity to rediscover the haunting beauty and extraordinary emotional depth of a soundtrack that continues to influence filmmakers, composers, and music enthusiasts decades after its original debut.

Perfect for David Lynch fans, Angelo Badalamenti collectors, soundtrack enthusiasts, and lovers of atmospheric orchestral music, Blue Velvet deserves a place in any serious film music collection.
