Recorded on June 25, 1961, just ten days before Scott LaFaro's tragic death in a car accident, these Village Vanguard sessions capture a piano trio conversation that jazz has spent six decades trying to equal. LaFaro's bass playing here isn't accompaniment; it's a full third voice in the dialogue, and knowing what was coming makes every note feel more urgent, more alive.
Official colored vinyl reissue of the Bill Evans Trio’s iconic 1962 album, Waltz For Debby. Recorded at the Village Vanguard and featuring Scott LaFaro (bass) and Paul Motian (drums). Available at an affordable price on Violet vinyl.
