Originally recorded in New York in September 1974, Dylan scrapped much of that first session and re-cut roughly half the album in Minneapolis just weeks before its January 1975 release, giving songs like "Tangled Up in Blue" and "Idiot Wind" the sharper, more urgent feel that defines the finished record.
