Boone Creek existed right at the fault line between old-time traditionalism and the progressive bluegrass that would come to define the late 1970s and beyond. Ricky Skaggs and Jerry Douglas were barely in their twenties when this was recorded, yet both were already operating at a level that would shape acoustic music for decades. Crowe and the New South, future bluegrass legends Jerry Douglas and Ricky Skaggs founded Boone Creek (with guitarist Wes Golding and banjoist Terry Baucom). They pushed boundaries with a sound that infused traditional bluegrass with jam and pop. Remastered from the original tapes, this album includes four outtakes that were far ahead of their time.
