George Martin's orchestral treatments of Beatles material occupy a unique space in the catalog, coming from the man who shaped those songs in the studio as much as anyone who wrote or played them. These aren't covers so much as extensions, the arranger and producer returning to melodies he helped build, stripping away the rock and roll and letting the pure songwriting breathe.
