San Francisco in 1968 was a pressure cooker of musical possibility, and It's A Beautiful Day stood apart from their Haight-Ashbury peers by centering the band around David LaFlamme's electric violin, giving their improvisations a soaring, classically informed voice that few of their contemporaries could match. Catching them at the Fillmore West puts this recording squarely in the room where the era's best live music happened, on the same stage that hosted the Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana during those same fertile months.
Recorded live at the Fillmore in 1968, this album captures It's a Beautiful Day during the formative days of the San Francisco psychedelic scene. Blending rock, folk, jazz, and classical influences, the band delivers expansive performances that highlight their distinctive sound and improvisational approach. Featuring early versions of fan favorites including ""White Bird,"" ""Time Is,"" and ""Bombay Calling,"" this collection offers a rare snapshot of a group that helped define the spirit of the late-'60s West Coast music movement.
