Jefferson Starship continued building momentum with subsequent albums including Red Octopus, Spitfire, Earth, Freedom at Point Zero, and Modern Times.

The band's evolving sound eventually produced major hits and established Jefferson Starship as one of the most recognizable names in American rock.

Yet Dragon Fly remains especially significant because it captures the group at the beginning of its journey, combining the adventurous spirit of psychedelic rock with the emerging sound of 1970s arena rock.
