The Melbourne seven-piece has never been content standing still, and the microtonal trilogy that began with *Flying Microtonal Banana* in 2017 represents one of the more genuinely adventurous detours in modern rock. Where most bands treat alternate tunings as a novelty, King Gizzard built an entire sonic vocabulary around them, and *L.W.* finds that vocabulary fully matured, looser and more confident than its companion piece, with the band's psychedelic instincts pulling hard against the exotic intervals.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard return with ‘L.W.’, their seventeenth studio album and the third volume in the band’s explorations into microtonal tunings. A companion piece to its 2020 predecessor, ‘K.G.’, as well as a stand-alone work of art in its own right, L.W. displays a collision of musical worlds.
