Before Miami became synonymous with disco and synth pop, it had a thriving Latin dance scene rooted in the Cuban exile community, and Orquesta Suprema were among its defining forces. This 1973 recording captures a band at the height of their powers, playing for crowds who knew every clave pattern and demanded nothing less than the real thing. Finding an original pressing today is nearly impossible, making this remastered reissue on color vinyl a genuine opportunity for collectors and dancers alike.
One of the original exponents of the true "Miami Sound" was Orquesta Suprema, a well-oiled twelve-piece salsa orchestra that were extremely popular in the early to mid - 1970s in the Miami area, catering to the huge influx of Cuban emigres. Their brand of salsa mixed with explosive Afro-Cuban rhythms was contagious, and when Suprema played a dance, they drew thousands of people with little or no advertising. Their ultra-rare albums are now highly prized by Cuban music enthusiasts. The landmark album "La Suprema," recorded in 1973, Originally produced by Sound Triangle head honcho Manny Mato, is presented here newly remastered and pressed on limited edition color vinyl.
