Paul Di'Anno's post-Iron Maiden years are often overlooked, but Battlezone was where he found his footing again, delivering the raw, street-level heavy metal that defined his appeal long before "The Trooper" existed. Children of Madness captures that scrappy, no-frills energy, the sound of a vocalist who helped build the New Wave of British Heavy Metal proving he still had plenty left to say outside of Maiden's shadow.
