Portland's X-Ray Cafe was ground zero for the Pacific Northwest underground in the early '90s, a all-ages venue that gave bands like Pond a place to push hard against the edges of what rock could do. This November 1993 snapshot captures a scene that was already disappearing even as it peaked, pressed to wax 25 years later as both document and eulogy.
Sub Pop recording artist Pond from Portland, Oregon release historic live performance (11/6/1993) from the famous X-Ray Cafe. Pond live was a bristling, bustling juggernaut that was always storming into new territory. No accident that Tres Shannon calls them "conquistadors" in the introduction to Live at the X-Ray Cafe.
