Townes Van Zandt's 1969 self-titled second album arrived at a moment when Nashville had no idea what to do with him, and the feeling was mutual. Recorded with arranger Jim Ed Norman, the record captures a songwriter already operating on a different plane, one whose verse would eventually find its way into the repertoire of artists from Emmylou Harris to Steve Earle long after the industry had moved on.
Originally released in 1969, Towne Van Zandt's self-titled album is reissued now.
